Yahoo mail: duplicate emails, emails not showing up

Hi, all. I've had my Droid Razr for a week and a half and I like it pretty well, particularly now that I've done some battery life optimization with smart actions and apps. I also had to work around the mediaserver bug by deleting a corrupt picture transferred from the old phone.

My one issue: the Razr doesn't handle my Yahoo mail account nearly as well as my old Blackberry did, which is a problem because yahoo is my primary email account. Does anyone else have similar problems or know of possible fixes?

1. The yahoo mail account is set up for Push, but it?s usually a few hours between when the email appears in my webmail inbox and when it appears on the phone. I refresh the phone inbox manually and still see emails in the webmail inbox that are not on the phone. The performance with my gmail account seems to be much faster, though I don't use gmail as much.

2. I'm getting a lot of duplicate messages (not just duplicate notifications). This happened a lot when I first hooked up the phone: I'd get an email, read it, and get another copy an hour later. It's still happening today, leaving my phone inbox with lots of duplicates. The duplicates do not appear in the webmail inbox, and I don't have the problem with gmail. This isn't a big deal, just a cluttered inbox and a lot of duplicate notifications.

3. With my Blackberry, only mail that went to my inbox made it to the phone; emails that I filtered into other folders did not show up in the inbox on the phone. This was convenient because I don't want to be notified of every mailing list email, charity begging for money, and other stuff that I filter into a semi-junk folder, but I do want to be notified ASAP when I get an email from a real person into my inbox. This is just another noise/clutter issue, but I really liked my humans-only inbox. Is there any way to set this up for Yahoo mail on the Razr?

From the forum I see that yahoo mail doesn?t always play nice with android; I created a new thread because haven?t been seeing the other yahoo mail issues that people are reporting (e.g. the problem where the mail screen goes blank). Should I bother contacting verizon, samsung, or yahoo?

Before I start trying apps, root, and roms, does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks for any advice you can provide. My Razr is non-rooted, with the android 2.3.5 that came with it, and I?m using the stock email app.

I'm seeing the same thing on my Samsung Galaxy Skyrocket. Not sure what's going on but it wasn't doing this a few days ago.

I use the yahoo email app from the market. Get my emails and new email notifications within seconds (tested this myself when i emailed myself from my home pc)... I never setup yahoo mail from the stock email app on android for the simple reasons you just stated. Been this way since 2010 and my DROID X days.... but the official yahoo email app has never failed me... not once.. :-)

Hope this helps.

The yahoo email app from the market is the best. Verizon knows there is a problem with the normal email app. After I downloaded the yahoo app it works perfectly.

Ok, it certainly seems that the yahoo mail app is the way to go. Emails show up quickly and it handles folders just like on the webmail. It's a small price to pay to not have those emails show up in the stock messaging app.

I never use that thing. Moreover, I don't think I ever use stock apps. Other than the dialer.. lol lol lol everything else has a better free app on market.

Trust me after weeks of email notification problems the only reliable way to get e mail pushed on this phone is through a 3rd party app. I'm using K-9 its free and it WORKS!
