Yahoo mail sync contacts error

So I just got a S9+ yesterday. I was actually using a J3 Prime for a few days while I waited (don't laugh). I was able to sync my google contacts and my Yahoo contacts no problems. Now, with the S9+ the Google contacts have sync'd but I keep getting a "Sync error" for the Yahoo account. I get it both on the contact sync and the actual Yahoo mail app.
I have uninstalled the app and reinstalled it, same thing.

Any suggestion??? Thanks in advance.

Have you enabled 2 step authentication on the yahoo account?

No I have not. I'm guessing I should try that.

Actually, the reason to ask about 2-step authentication is that if you had it on, it could cause issues with syncing (at least initially). So if you have it off, this contact issue wouldn't be a reason to turn it on (although in general, 2-step authentication is a good idea for the sake of security).
