Yay or Nay: Security/Antivirus Apps needed?

I've never used any antivirus apps on my Android or Linux devices. I don't visit or download from shady sites, so I don't consider it necessary.

I guess you don't go about on deeper parts of the Internet in search of extremely rare versions of old apps. My AV and Play Protect have saved me several times. I also use my AV to verify some old app I wanna share and talk about on YouTube has no viruses before I upload it to the Internet Archive, since I don't want any of my fans here on AC forums or Reddit to get infected. I also have an AV on my phone because I and my family have suffered from attempted (and some successful) cyber attacks (you don't even want to know...).

Yeah, there aren't any old apps I have use for.
