You can stream mkv files with MX Video Player

Install MX Video Player and ES File Explorer. In ES, go to the LAN tab and scan for servers. Browse to the folder with mkv files.

Long press on the file and then chose Open As and select Video. Then select MX Video Player as the program.

Viola -- you can stream mkv videos to the E4GT, and they play smoothly, without any hiccups or skipping.

Note that the stock player will not stream these files -- it only works with MX Video Player.

Now I can finally watch my shows when the kids are monopolizing the TV without having to transfer the files to the device first..
