Simple question... for all the current BlackBerry owners or those that are considering... are you going to pick up a BlackBerry Mercury? Or have physical keyboards remained a non starter for you? Sound off and tell me why (yes or no!)... Go! :)

Re: You going to get a BlackBerry Mercury?

I really like the look of it, but it's a bit too tall for my personal liking, so I'm not :(

Re: You going to get a BlackBerry Mercury?

I've never bought a device that I haven't physically held in a store. Holding the device, feeling the keys, looking at build quality and testing out the speakers are all part of the purchasing process for me.

So it all depend if my local carrier has one in store. I'm definitely interested. Love qwerty devices so it's already got the first 'thumbs up' from me. Just needs to be below $500 otherwise I'm out.

Re: You going to get a BlackBerry Mercury?

Looking forward to checking one out once it's released. I must admit, the thought of going back to a physical keyboard is bringing back memories of my Bold 9900. I just hope the keyboard is as buttery smooth as that device. If so I'm sold!

Re: You going to get a BlackBerry Mercury?

Cannot wait to get one!!!!!!

Re: You going to get a BlackBerry Mercury?

I think it would be a tough sell for me since I already have a PRIV.

I never buy phones at the release since I wait for the price to come down. So I will see how it is next year. By then it should be around $300 which is enough for me to pull the trigger.

Re: You going to get a BlackBerry Mercury?

I'm excited a phone with a keyboard and no moving parts is coming out. Gonna get ASAP.

Re: You going to get a BlackBerry Mercury?

At launch, probably not. My Priv is running just fine.

Maybe during the first sale, after all I am still committed to buy all PKB phones that isn't complete junk or come in a prepaid box.

Re: You going to get a BlackBerry Mercury?

I'm currently using a Passport, get to renew my contract shortly. It will depend on the price, but if I can afford it I plan to switch to the Mercury. I mean, I have come to accept that I will have to switch to Android eventually anyway, and the Mercury at least has the PKB. Can't wait to learn more about the specs though. And I'll have to do a crash course in Android, haven't really kept up too much these last few years.

Re: You going to get a BlackBerry Mercury?

Absolutely if it ends up on verizon. I still hate virtual keyboards with a passion.

Re: You going to get a BlackBerry Mercury?

I think this one will end up on Verizon just like the classic did a few years ago.

Re: You going to get a BlackBerry Mercury?

I will probably get it much later since my Priv is working fine.

Re: You going to get a BlackBerry Mercury?

I will get one. I would also like to hear honest review from android central. Crackberry is great forum but you can't find any negative reviews. I want fair review.

I was over at Crackberry looking through the forums for mercury and I was finding that the sentiment there is very negative. Coming to Android Central though, the comments are mostly positive. I try to stay away from the Crackberry forums before a device launch because the comments tend to skew negative. Just my opinion.

There we go i fixed it :D haha

Agreed, Thats why I'm spending more of my time here with you guys on AndroidCentral. Seems a much happier and more positive community. So let me shed some happiness and joy towards the device.

Positives:
12mp Camera Sensor: Sony IMX378 (Same as Google Pixel)
Android 7.x Out of the box
Qwerty Keyboard that's touch sensitive + Embedded Finger print sensor
Sharp 420 PPI 4.6" inch screen.
3,400 mAh battery (non exploding variant)

Negatives:
Device is a little thicker than the average slab.
3GB RAM. (which could be 4GB)

Re: You going to get a BlackBerry Mercury?

I like it, it's different. As someone who does an above average amount of typing on their smartphone I can definitely see the attraction of the physical keyboard, but would I select it above everything else currently available? Almost certainly not.

I am going to keep my priv for now. I do not see a big reason to upgrade to a Mercury.

Before I got a PRIV, I was on a q10 with a small square screen, with the opinion that big screens are overrated on a phone. Now with my PRIV, I definitely see the benefit in having a big screen on a phone with a physical keyboard.

I use the physical keyboard all the time; and I also use the big screen all the time for movie viewing and document viewing.

I do not want to give up the big screen of the priv to have a marginally better keyboard.

Re: You going to get a BlackBerry Mercury?

I'll have to physically check the phone out first, but i think this might be my next phone.....
