You guys remember when you first got your Honor 8?

Well said. Updates are one thing I did not think about. That said I believe honor will go the extra mile with the honor 8 as far as updates. Security and what not. It was such a huge success for them and even though the honor 9 has come out yet the honor 8 still lives strong. Just an awesome device all the way around. I suspect honor will honor updates for a long while to come on the 8. Anyone who is still thinking about getting one like I am you aren't alone. Like this nice guy said real world we all hardly will be able to tell a difference between the two phones and another thing he stated that I want to definitely verify is the honor 8 does indeed have a very very good camera. I was spoiled by it bc I briefly changed to another phone before I got my S8 which does have a good camera but the phone I briefly had did not and I can tell you I noticed that. I immediately knew right then just how good of a camera the honor 8 in fact did have. Well said my friend.

Well honor promised two years updates so i would expect O to be the last letter update. Of course there should still be security updates.

This is just my guess though... But i don't think that the Honor 8 will see P.

I agree with everything you said. The honor 8 will live on well past the average lifespan of a typical Android device which what is about two years max. The honor 8 will surpass that timeframe I believe. It's a dang good device and deserves to stick around for a good long while.

It's too bad that it is so underrated! I totally agree with you. It's so unique and appealing. I will have great difficulty giving it up! A long time from now, of course!

The Honor 8 is certainly pretty capable and would still be pretty usable in two years i think.

Let's see if we will still be around here in three years! One down, two to go!

Maybe that's why Honor isn't in a hurry to release the Honor 9 here!

No it's just Huawei Honor isnt focused on the US right now bc it's the least on their profit shares. You can bet once they fully arrive to the US we will be one of the first markets to receive their new products. Right now the US is not a priority to Honor so therefore we won't see the Honor 9 until I think the soonest will be early December due to Christmas sales. Strategically they stand to profit the best by a early December release bc of Christmas. Maybe late November for Thanksgiving Black Friday release but I think December.

I think a black Friday release could work... People are looking for deals then and they could provide a good release discount.

Absolutely it could work! If they also a hundred dollars off, I think it'd be a buying frenzy! Or if they threw in some accessories, etc.

Hopefully they will throw in more useful accessories like cases and screen protectors. Around the honor 8 release they bundled headphones, iirc.

A nice pair of Honor headphones would be ideal. I've got a pair that came with my Huawei Media pad 3 and they are awesome. I hope they do a bundle but I think it will just be the phone only. We will be extremely lucky to see it by Black Friday simply bc Huawei Honors focus is just not on the US. Believe me the US is the least on their priority list from the research and articles I've read. It will be nice once they are officially in the US and we get the goods immediately.

I prefer case and screen protector because you need one with every new phone, if you are planning to use them of course . Headphones, you can keep using them with every new phone. Of course the headphones which where bundled with the Honor 8 were pretty good and cost a bit... Guess it depends on your needs which is better...

It would be great if they could give us cases and a screen protector! I'd be set then! Haha.

Depends on what type of headphones they were to provide. If a highly tuned pair I'd love to get those. I don't think they are going to bundle. The Honor 9 will sale like crazy if under 399.

I don't really remember when I first got my 8.
Got it from B&H which for me has never been a disappointing experience.

Didn't like EMUI 4 very much because it looked sooo cartoony.
I did like most of the animations in the overlay however.

Have to say even though the honor 8 was a nice looking phone and ran well on Android 6 subsequent updates and Nougat ruined it for me.
I soon became bored with the small screen and a few bugs with the phone that never went away.

Sad that my 8 went into the drawer for three months.
I was so pleased to find a buyer for mine...c'est la vie :)

Sorry to hear that. If small screen is an issue then you can consider the mate 9.

I'm guessing Huawei is the brand for US users.
I think that pushing the honor name for US consumers is probably wasted effort.

Not sure why Huawei insists on 2 differing brandings for it's phone products.

Seems to me it would be smarter to pick one and run with it.

I bought mine for $275 used on eBay. When it finally got delivered. It was like love at first sight. I love how it looked !

Well some people are more likely to try a brand which they are not familiar with when there is a significant price difference. With Huawei, the mate 9 was released at $600 msrp, not far from the iPhone pricing at time of release.
