Your Best Gear S Story

I will tell you mine.....

I was late for work, and forgot my phone at home. I realized it when I was almost to work.

I had my gear s and gear circle. So I turned on mobile data (as I have it off normally) and turned on my circle. I arrived at work and begin my duties. I opened my music app and played my play lists and went about my night.

I thought that in itself was the coolest thing ever. Then I get a text from my girlfriend and responded from the watch via svoice. She had no clue my phone was on my desk at home. I then called her and talked for a bit.

My boss asked where the nearest hospital was, so I opened opera on my watch and went to Google and found him the address. He was floored that my watch did that.

I checked the news and weather, then showed some Coworkers some pictures I had loaded on the phone.

Bottom line, I was away from my phone for 12 hours and to be honest I had no issues using my Gear S as my primary communication device. My battery life was fine, and i did not miss a text or phone call.

I now leave my Note 4 at home or in the car when I go to work as I rather damage the watch than the 800 note 4. Not to mention people keep asking what it is, where did I buy it, or they drag my to one of their friends and say show him what you showed me on your watch.

I live my Gear S and I am so happy I added the data plan to it, or remote connection would not be possible.

I posted this in my personal standalone experience thread, but I'll post it here too.

This device is an attention getter; at least right now while it is still new technology unfamiliar to many. People notice it. The cash register is where the most conversions seem to start, because your hands are in the view of the cashier and others around you. When you tell people about the watch, light up the screen and do a few swipes; it produces amazing smiles over and over. If you are single and looking, this is a must have device. Let me explain.

The Gear S has what I’ll call the “Puppy or Baby Factor.” Just put this “Puppy” or “Baby” out there in plain view and watch the heads turn, staring begin and introductions initiate; just like when you have a puppy or baby in your arms. As a 55 year old single male, I can tell you I’ve met more beautiful women in the last few weeks then I have in the last year. It’s an amazing ice breaker! You don’t even have to initiate the conversation yourself. Just position yourself within view, lift your wrist and tap or talk, or just swipe through a few screens and watch them move closer and start the conversion for you. Lol… And it’s all positive just like when you have a puppy or baby in your arms. Who would have thought this beautiful sleek tech device would have such magical powers?

The first time I went for a run without my phone made me realize I have one of the best pieces of technology available today.

I run each morning and now with the Gear S it only takes a few seconds to forward calls to the watch, turn on my Bluetooth headphones, and out the door for a run.

The Gear S is an amazing device and I will never go back to a bluetooth only connected smartwatch again.

It's really great..will try the call forwarding when at work tonight when I leave my phone on my desk.

I issue when resting is for some reason call forwarding only works when I click ok on my phone surely that goes against the point? Shouldn't it just work?

I will make this brief so as not to highjack the thread from the OP's intent, but call forwarding needs to be turned on via Gear Manager or from swiping down when on the home screen of the watch. Otherwise you are remote connected.

There are other threads to explain to the difference, and there use cases.

DAS since you bought the original galaxy gear do you think it's a huge jump from galaxy gear to gear s as I am on the fence as well. Please advise? Thanks

I'm sorry it's taken so long to respond.

There are pros and cons of each, but if I had to choose one it would be the Gear S.

The ability to use the watch apart from the phone makes is a huge leap from the original Gear.

I am one who actually liked the camera on the original Gear, but not having it is not a deal breaker. Also, the Gear S looks so much nicer with the curved screen in my opinion.

If price is not an obstacle, and you don't mind paying for the monthly data fee, I'd go with the Gear S.
