Your charging habit

I have done tons of trial and error and have found a surprising yet unexpected behavior that is consistent every time I try it.

I usually charge regardless of the starting point (although I try to start before I drain my battery beyond 10%) all the way to 100%. The interesting bit is, if I unplug my phone right after the LED goes green or if I do it shortly after, my battery life on that charge is usually poor and inconsistent (sudden drops of 10-15% for no apparent reason while the phone is on stand by). However, if I allow more time, usually 1 to 2 hours after the charge completed, I get much better battery life. I can't explain it, I thought it was down to chance because I know theoretically there is no reason why such behavior would take place, but I have tested it many, many times and I always get the same behavior, so there must be something there.

Hope this helps, it's just what I use, but it works for me.

Green doesn't indicate full charge.
It indicates "full enough" charge.

Charging that last 5 to 10 percent has to be done very slowly due to the nature of li-poly battery chemistry. It takes way longer than any other similar segment of the charge cycle.

So rather than making you wait for every last percentage the charge controller indicates "good enough".

Most phones work that way.

That's interesting, but still does not explain why the experience is much more consistent on the longer charge. If it was down to just "good enough", I would get the same experience, only shorter, but it is not.

Anyways, thanks for the additional background.

I just run my battery until it tells me to charge. Then charge it until it says 100%. Battery life does not seem to be any different than it was 6 months ago.
