Your Incredible May Have a Downgraded Screen

As reported by Phandroid: Has HTC Been Pulling a Switcheroo on Screens with Recent Units Due to Component Shortages? -

So since HTC's backup is because of Samsung's inability to pump out screens quick enough, they are switching to a different, lower quality screen. Has anybody heard of this? What are your thoughts?

That's good. I'm a 6/6 order so, if this is true, I'll probably be getting the alternate screen. One of the benefits to the Incredible over the Droid X is the quality of the screen. At least I'll have 30 days to make a decision.

Yeah same here, I got mine on 4/30 the day after launch. I've got about about 18 months before my NE2 is up again so hopefully between now and then I have no issues. And also hopefully by then they slow down the release cycle on all these dang phones.

Two threads going on this one now. "Downgraded" may not be an accurate description of Sony's Super LCD. While I prefer the Amoled on my Inc there are many that might have a different preference. At any rate the two threads should be combined for efficient discussion.

I hope they got enough Amoled screens already so mine has that screen.I am not going to be out in the direct sunlight with it anyhoo, the direct sun light even made my blackberry screen glare bad .

But they probably wont , dam it so close but yet outta reach i bet

I read it's because of how many screens Samsung was selling them to use in the phones, not being able to make them.

Maybe with a super powered microscope. In all honestly, I feel like you really wouldn't be able to tell the difference. We'll probably find out within the next month or so.

Upon further review, the article explains hardware build revisions, indicated in the settings. Also showed a side by side comparison, its subtle but noticeable.

What hardware build do you guys have that got your phone early? I got my DInc the 1st week of June and have build 002.

I got mine on the 15th and it says hardware build 0002 and so far, the screen is beautiful on it. The only thing that changed the display was when I put the screen protector on it.

It seems like the article my be referring to future models of the phone.
