YouTube multitasking

This is an android question in general.
I am a beginner so bare with me.
I have an HTC one and maybe there are exceptions.
Plus, ONE users are much smarter anyways

Is there anyway to listen to YouTube audio while doing something else on the phone (text/email/web browsing.)
Or even turning off the screen while playing YouTube.
