YouTube not in full screen???

I don't know what I did but YouTube videos won't play in full screen. Anyone run into this? It will say fit to screen or crop but stays in 16:9. Help!

Cleared cache and data. Thought that fixed it but it didn't. Still playing in 16:9

While you're watching the video, tap the screen and a little icon pops up in the lower right corner and then you can go into full screen. It only shows while the video is playing. Try this.

Still doing the same. after I clear the cache it works for a short time but then back to 16:9

By default it plays 16:9 but tapping on the screen gives you a little white popup (to the right of the screen) that allows you chahe between Fit To Screen, Stretch and Crop. Every time you play a new video you have to repeat. Clearing the cache isn't going to do anything, the app is built that way.

Something in the new update was not letting it go full screen. I uninstalled the update and all is well now

12.27.53 You can sometimes get it to work for a while by clearing the YouTube app data and cache. I'm using the YouTube Red version and I don't know if that makes a difference or not.

Same here. Only permanent fix is to uninstall the update.

YouTube update. I had to Uninstall it and put it on manual update only.

YouTube update. I had to revert to version 12.05.53 and the problem is gone. If update YouTube, it will come back.

Problem is still there with latest update. You have to roll-back to 12.05.53 to eliminate the problem.

Uninstall the youtube update. For some reason the new yputube update won't let you go full screen crop.

I'm the same just noticed it Now! Tried everything mentioned on the post but the little white pop up box has gone! Can't go propper full screen! Not happy with my s8 plus.

I'm using a Galaxy Note 8 and I just realised my "stretch to fit" button in YouTube is gone too :/
