I noticed this as well. Luckily I figured it out. Use your fingers to swipe outward to expand video use fingers inward to make video original.

I'm using a Galaxy Note 8 and I just realised my "stretch to fit" button in YouTube is gone too :/

I've noticed this too. To crop or stretch the screen while watching YouTube videos, you have to "pinch" the screen like zooming in on a photo and it Will then Stretch.

Had the same problem, you have to boot the phone in safe mode, by " turn off the phone, then power on, when you see the Samsung logo appear, hold the volume down and the bixby button, then try YouTube see if it works full screen, then reboot the phone normal. Everything would be fixed

update your youtube app first,after go to settings-display and change your screen resolution to WQHD,open youtube and it will play video s on full screen
