This has happened more than once. I need to power phone off to fix it.

Running Lollipop

Watch a YouTube Video, finish it, close YouTube, even end task and verify it isn't running. When phone locks the preview image is visible for the video on the lock screen. :-\

Welcome to Android Central! Try going to Settings>Apps>All, select YouTube, and Clear Cache/Clear Data. See if it happens again afterwards.

Just play a station like something else like a radio app then stop it or try playing your own content in the music app. That is the only way it goes away.

ugh i have this annoying problem now too (on the Priv), this wasnt an issue when i was still on Lollipop but when i upgraded to Marshmallow suddenly my lock screen wallpaper was the thumbnail of whichever last YT vid i was watching.

thanks for this! i tried doing B. Diddy's suggestion but for some reason my phone doesnt want to clear the cache (and i didnt want to clear data since i have some YT vids saved offline), running another music app got my lock screen back to the wp default so thats good.

i just have to wonder what if i wanted to have a different lock screen wp? i think Lollipop had the feature before innit? seems like Marshmallow has take a few steps backwards.

I have the same problem. This is irritating and don't care about the last video I watched when unlocking my phone.
I also don't want to have to see it when I'm planning to get back to a video I was watching

I also had the same problem today. Clearing YT cache and Data helped.
Android version 6.0
HTC sense version 7.0
Software number 3.14.720.1

I stumbled across the same issue since I updated to Marshmallow 6.0.0.
Force quitting the App also works perfectly fine, for all those who don't necesseraly want to clear the cache/data.

Sony Xperia Z5 Compact

Greetings.

Go to Settings -> Lock Screen and Security -> Information and FaceWidgets -> FaceWidgets -> Click on Music controller to turn it off

I cleared YouTube cache, set the preferences of the YouTube app to not display over other apps, and screen in screen. Then I had to reboot to get it to work...(I assume force quit would work as well) Annoying..

Rebooting always worked, but I wanted an alternative. Turns out Chrome is involved somehow. Just find Chrome in your phone's settings and tap "Force stop".
