z3 compact or z2

I'm trying to decide between the z3 compact or z2. I read that the z2 auto mode doesn't work as well as the z3s because sony didn't update the camera software on the z2. Something about not adjusting well to brightness or focus or something.

Is that true? I'd rather get the z2 cause of screen size but if there is issues with the auto mode, then I'd get the z3 compact. Thanks.
