Z5 Compact a worthwhile upgrade

Due an upgarde soon and I currently have an HTC One M8.

Is the Z5 compact a worthwhile upgrade?

It's a tough question.. I'd say you'll have to experience it yourself.. I used it for 2 weeks and returned it yesterday ... overall it was a great phone for my needs.. but sd810 is the biggest drawback.. my device showed signs of excessive heat.. for example.. 15mins of web browsing.. the battery temp reached 40c and phone was pretty warm.. only 8 mins of 1080p recording.. battery temp rose from 27c to 46c and app shutdown!.. so the phone is definitely on the warmer side.. now there are users who haven't experienced this as seen in the forum.. so not sure if it's a faulty unit... mine was a rev#1 graphite black unit.. so it appears to be a lucky draw and with the amount of money spent.. I decided it's not worth it... I really wished Sony opted an sd808 instead.. I'll definitely be looking forward to the next iteration of the compact as it's a great device otherwise.. good luck.

I agree that you will just need to try it out and see for yourself.. Most retailers offer a 2 week return period.

I love mine! I have a rev 2 and it stays cool. It gets warm every so often when I push it but it's never gotten what I'd consider to be hot and it's never shut down.

My unit is fast, snappy and smooth.

Yes I got mine from Amazon. The seller of mine was DeltaMobiles but I don't see them selling it any longer.

I think your best bet would be to contact the sellers and tell them you will only accept a rev 2. Based on what they say, buy or move on to the next seller with the same question..

rev 2 is revision 2...meaning.. It's perhaps a second batch of z5 compact with fixes for issues spotted in first batch of devices released.. again.. that's just the assumption.. not 100% sure

No one but Sony knows for sure what was changed with rev 2. Some speculate it's the updated 810 but I believe it had to do with internal cooling of the unit..
