From the activity that's in this section it would seem there's very little interest in this tablet.

I'm trying to find more information about the Nougat update availability for the Z500M (not LTE) but am coming up short, and the forum format on asus.com is simply horrible (frankly not a good sign for the support availability for this product) and beginning to get that "I got what I paid for" sinking feeling.

After a week of use I'm getting my feet wet with this tablet and like it pretty well so far, but having such a small community to discuss issues/solutions with is disheartening

Waa :'(

So I just got off of a chat session with Asus support. Asked about the status of the availability of the Nougat update for the ZenPad 3s 10 Z500M, since it was reportedly already out for the LTE version...
"I really don't know, but make sure to check our web site for news. Especially during the 2nd and 3rd quarters."
In other words, "don't hold your breath."

I feel ya, picked up this tablet in January and it has been great for me so far..But with the lack of security updates for a newer product is bothersome.

I got this tablet in Dec and think it is the best Android tablet you can buy for $300 right now. That being said, yep it will probably never see an update. No guarantee Samsung tablets will ever see updates either. My Galaxy Note 8 is still running 4.4.2, which is okay since I only use it as a nightstand alarm clock and white noise machine.

Should we be worried about not getting updates? Don't know, never have had a problem that I'm aware of. In another 18 months or so when I'm ready for a new tablet, I'll have to see what is out there, and see if there is a good Android tablet in this price range with the updated OS and just get that knowing it will never see an update. Or if Google has finally gotten around to making another good tablet spring for the extra $$ to get that. Or possibly even get an ipad.

Yeah, I'm personally hoping a chromebook (capable of running play store apps) tablet becomes a reality in that time span. Was surprised, when settling on this product, that there already wasn't one.

I just installed the Android 7.0 (Nougat) update yesterday and everything is working smoothly (knock on wood!). I really like my ZenPad after using various Samsung tablet over the last few years. You can't best the sub-$300 price from Amazon. So far, it's been working like a champ.
