Took the leap and ordered in gray from Newegg. Partly because I am curious to see if expected performance exceeds the price point...and partly because I am making a statement as a consumer that $700 bucks is too much to pay for a phone ...we shall see how things turn out with this purchase.

Decided to place another pre order. I'll let you know what I think as soon as it arrives. I'll have 30 days to evaluate it which is fair enough. I am still concerned about the camera, but hopefully they'll tweak the USA version prior to shipment.
I'm getting quite excited about this phone now. I'm looking to update my current phone - and the Axon 7 is top of my list. Can this phone really be as good as it sounds for the price? I wouldn't normally have considered a lesser known Chinese brand to be honest. I'm just waiting to see what reviews/early adopters say before I take the plunge. There's usually a thing or two about every phone that isn't perfect. Looks like the camera may be one. But it looks good enough for me, as someone who isn't looking for "perfect" pictures. I just want something that will take decent point and shoot photos. If that's the only thing wrong with this phone then I can certainly live with that. Cant wait for the reviews to start coming in.
If this phone IS as good as it seems then it's a virtual no brainer to me. The only thing that concerns me is the updates situation. Hopefully ZTE wont neglect that part.

Just noticed on ZTE's site that new orders for the gold won't start shipping until 9/9. Both Amazon and New Egg claim gold will ship 7/27 so what gives? Maybe they are overwhelmed and there will be considerable delays? It figures.

The initial allocation is probably already spoken for, between preorders and shipments to other distributors.

So far l like it a lot. I have a one plus 3 also but prefer the axon 7. Runs smooth. You can select marshmallow as the default launcher if you don't like mifavor. Camera is good. Sound through speakers is really good compared to other phones. It feels really nice in the hand.

You won't believe this phone is 399.00 it feels and runs better than more expensive ones. Also I dropped a 200 GB sandisk card into and it picked it up right away and read it correctly as a 200 GB card.
