Asking some employee whose possibly losing their job due to specific type situation will not give you accurate information. More likely they're in their own self-denial about the desperation of their own situation and sitting in a huge self-imposed blind spot.

So does that mean you're giving up on ZTE? When you look for used Axon 7's the prices certainly aren't going down! In fact I'm seeing some at all time highs, though I can't justify paying them. $200 is about the lowest I've seen for one in good condition. And since Oreo was already in beta, it would make sense they release it regardless of the outcome with Google.

That would be explained by supply and demand. If new devices aren't going to be available for sale, the older devices will be the only devices available for sale which pushes up those prices in the short-term. Whether Oreo gets released or not is partially determined by Google itself. Losing the Android license can have all types of legal consequences. Ultimately, hardware prices will drop as support will drop if license is lost. Doesn't really matter too much in the USA, as marketshare has been low due to lack of significant carrier support.

Good points all though in my eyes, those seeking to get at or near full retail for a used device with what is now dated SoC and features, not to mention lack of updates to Android P and beyond doesn't justify the cost. So far it doesn't appear the US govt or Google will change their positions either, which doesn't bode well for ZTE overall

Personally, Im waiting for these new crop of devices and with this Tmo/Sprint merger, 2018 is gonna get wilder than anyone thought!

I want some something similar in price and unlocked. It seems it will be 1 6plus or another Chinese made phone that is considered their flag ship phone but not the flag ship price

The cheaper unlocked devices you list may still have support issues due to corporate ownership, especially the V10.

I don't know if it's possible to, in good conscience, recommend non flagship devices to consumers anymore, and that includes the OnePlus lineup. The idea of consumers being abandoned by the OEM seems something that the OEMs are a little too comfortable with.

It's fine if they want to spend that kind of money. Whatever they think it's reasonable. But really if u step back and look at the whole picture it's pretty ridiculous.
I'm just talking about cell phones.

I guess it just depends on what your priorities are. Android only has one option to take privacy and security seriously and so whatever the price tag is for that option as long as I can afford it then that's what I'm paying. So for my standards, the pixel and pixel 2 and its variants are the only reasonably priced devices out there, and everything else regardless of what this sticker price is is essentially worthless if that's how I'm basing the purchase decision. I would never be able to justify paying a penny more for the OnePlus 6 then I would for the Moto G6 because the Moto G6 in my opinion is a better device all around, but it's kind of dead whoever is buying the phone I think to make the decision whether or not the price tag is worth it for them.
