I was looking at the new ZTE phone on MetroPCS and thinking... if all the major manufacturers feel like their way of differentiating and adding value is through developing their own custom skins for Android, perhaps the hole in the market will be filled by ZTE and Huawei realizing they can undercut those companies on price by NOT investing in software development, and shipping stock or near stock phones. When this meant WVGA displays and Android 2.2 it was not so exciting, but once we get one step up in screen quality these products will be pretty well positioned I think. I hope they get some more traction with US carriers, I'd like for the general public to see more of the stock Android design.
