I have a 32gb sandisk microsd card and I can't copy anything to it. After copying no files will show in the card and the space is free in the card. And when I remove the card and reinsert in my SGS4, It says it is damaged. Somerimes it is working. Please give me a solution to this. .

New here but have been sharing your pain with the whole "damaged SD card" thing.
I've had this a couple of times on my Galaxy Ace and the last time it happened I used the chkdsk/x/f trick and it worked a treat.
However, yesterday I was playing some music through the phone but I found that you cant stop the music, only pause it so I did a full phone switch off. That certainly stopped Fleetwood Mac but also appears to have wrecked the micro sd card as well - the dreaded "damaged SD card" reappeared.
I wasn't too concerned as I thought the chkdsk thing would work but IT DIDN'T!
The thing is that the when I put the micro sd into the sd card reader and hooked it up to my pc (running XP) the card was fine - everything was readable so the chkdsk command had nothing to put right.
In File Manager I ran Properties and did the whole scan disk routine, I even scanned the card with AVG. Nothing would induce the phone to mount the card. I put it in my Samsung Tab 2 - same fault appeared, back in the pc - working fine.
So I ran the Backup utility in File Manager and created a copy of everything on the card and saved it to my pc hard drive, and then copied the backup onto another micro sd card and mounted that in the phone. Everything worked fine - the photos were there, Whatsapp messages reappeared, camera worked. Result.
Next I reformatted the original sd card in the phone (ie wiped it clean - do NOT do this until you have checked and confirmed you have a workable backup copy elsewhere) then safely removed the card, loaded it back into the pc, copied the backup from the pc to the sd card, remounted that version - and again everything worked!
I have absolutely no idea what the fault was as the card worked on the pc but not in any android device. The only fix was to reformat and start again.

I am having this same problem and I am very tempted to format my SD card and the only reason I am is because I have download an app called Dropbox and mind you that it connects to my computer, tablet and phone and I suggest that anyone if in future face this problem to download this app and connect with your computer. It will backup all photo's and any files that you feel that you need to save. You can even create files to backup just your music.

I am just saying this saved me big time. Although I am disappointed that I have to add everything back in. Apps are recoverable since you can download them back from google play but music and photos/files are hard to recover. This saved me a lot time too! I suggest that everyone download this and the more gadgets you add the more space you are given to save in dropbox for about a year but it will be more than enough.

I hope this helps somehow! At least if this happens in the future you have everything backed up. Also there is another function in newer android phone,Samsumg galaxy s3, s4, and s5 that can back up files for you as well. I am not to sure what it is called at the moment but I will check it out on my s3 and let everybody know.

Old thread, but for anyone else searching as I was for several days, my fix was cleaning the contacts on the card with alcohol and a Qtip, letting it dry, blowing out the port on the phone with compressed air (hubby used the tank for airing up tires as I was out of canned compress air. Then, cleaning internal contacts with alcohol, letting dry. Worked immediately!

Made an account to say thank you. I had a tonne of work pics as well as music, vids, etc. Used chkdsk for a total recovery from an unreadable/corrupted MicroSD card in my Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini.

    Cheers Dude!

Hi, I follow the instruction and I am stuck at one point:

    " chkdsk /X /F <SD card drive letter>: "

How do I identify my SD drive? I mean, I don't know much about all this so I am hoping someone can guide me. I wish to format my SD card but like others, it won't read or anything via my Note3 nor my card reader. Nothing appears. Appreciate it much though.
