So I've been running a bunch of speedtests over the last few days, and I've noticed an issue with Ookla's app. It doesn't seem to be measuring LTE accurately at all. (and overstates the speed of HSPA+ networks as well)
In the speedtest app and then the xtreme speedtest app, I ran speedtests one after the other.
-Ookla gave 5.1 down and 1.6 up
-Xtreme labs gave 9 down and 3 up
On an HSPA+ device:
-Ookla gave 11 down and 1.5 up
-Xtreme labs gave 4.5 down and 1.2 up
It seems like on LTE devices the newer Speedtest app won't get anything above 6 down. I know that app had issues when the Bolt was first released with upload speeds, but it seems like it went in the other direction and is understating the results.
Anyone else seeing this?
Also, I just ran the same test using my laptop tethered to the Bolt, and the results were vastly different:
-14.4 down, 3 up
