Why do all of my contact photos switch to low res after flashing?

Every time I flash a new ROM (and wipe data), all of my contact photos revert to a low res, pixelated version (they looked great before flashing as well as after resetting)? It's pretty much a PITA to reset every one of them after each flash. Any way to keep/restore the high res version without doing it manually?

My did it on stock. They look great after you take the pic but look like crap when they are loaded to the profile of contact.:-\

Actually, mine still looked pretty good after making them a contact profile pic, not as good as the camera photo, but pretty good. Once I wiped data and rebuilt the phone, they looked 10 time worse.

Once the phone syncs to Google its kills the images as they are backed up at a much lower Res.
