Can't get past Galaxy Nexus Rainbow boot up screen

Hey guys. I'm new to rooting but last night I was looking to root by Verizon GNex. I unlocked the bootloader. Rooted the device. Installed ClockworkMod. I then tried to flash my first rom (Kang). It said it installed fine on the bootloader screen but when I rebooted it wouldn't go past the rainbow boot up screen. I rebooted it a couple of times and the same thing. I booted into bootloader and tried wiping it and doing a factory reset but it still won't boot past the rainbow screen. What do I do? I have tried to flash the factory images but it my mac says it doesn't see a device.

Did you do a backup?

how long did you give it to boot up? there are many times where your 1st rom boot up especially after recently getting unlocked and rooted may take 5 - 10 minutes. Past 10 min then yes you will need to trouble shoot.
