I also jumped on the opportunity to get the international version after hearing rumors of US version getting delayed. I wanted to use this on my upcoming trip because of the capabilities. Amazon has it for anywhere between $420 and $500
Ok so after a few days of tinkering, I think this is pretty awesome. I was going to primarily shoot my vacation with my 3D camcorder like in previous trips, but i think this will be less nauseating. the trick is to always face it forward (or the direction one may be going if moving) and NOT force it torwards the action that may go from side to side, reason being you DONT HAVE TO. this is what limited camcorders of the past, always panning to keep up with the action (and replaying it in 3D made viewers want to barf). watching 360 footage is easier on the viewer because they can choose to pan in any direction at their leisure.
Storage Space - I popped in two different 128 gb cards and got two different readings of it's capacity :- ? lol
1st card is an SP elite 128 GB that read it can take 9532 pictures or 9 hours, 27 minutes of video
2nd card is a Netac 128 GB that read it can take 9507 pictures or 9 hours, 25 minutes of video
not a big difference but im interested in why it's different. of course this is the footage capacity at highest quality recordings for all settings. i was surprised at the 9 hour capacity recording at highest quality.
UPLOADING - takes forever to transmit footage to phone wirelessly. not sure if it can be done directly with cable. but it can be done also to computer. from the phone app, it allows you to "share" with popular programs. i uploaded it to facebook without any problems except it taking 10 minutes for about 1 minute of recording. immediately people wanted to know what kind of camera this is and where they can get one! i also uploaded to youtube which was much faster, about half the transfer time as facebook. youtube is great in that you can switch between quality when watching. full panning controls automatically are enabled.
here's my sample upload. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yYCzbm9wE1U
Will upload more footage as it comes
