Restore/Import photos with original files dates/info

Hi all

I just did the Backup-Reset-Restore dance on a Galaxy Nexus to improve performance and battery after 4.2.2
All of that went well, but all of the photos I restored photos now have the same date (the date I re-imported them). All of the files have their original dates in my backup. Does anyone know how I get the files back in order of date, not filename?

Are the files on internal storage, or an SD card? If you're using an SD card, maybe using an adapter to mount the SD card directly on your computer, and copying the files that way, would preserve the file dates. I'm not at all sure about this, however.

The Galaxy Nexus only has internal storage.

I've tried mounting the phone both ways, but dragged and dropped both times with the same result. I've also tried uploading to Dropbox and then exporting to the internal storage with the same result.
