4.1.2 os browser problems

I open my browser, then open a few tabs, then go to some other app like notepad. When I return to the browser all the tabs are gone! I have other problems and would like to reinstall my is but can't find a way to do it.

Welcome to Android Central! What device do you have?

Do you happen to have any Developer Options turned on? There's an option that kills any process once you leave it, which really shouldn't be used conventionally (and which is why it's a Developer Option). Also, do you have any task killer apps installed? Some of those apps also have settings to force close selected apps. Task killers in general don't help battery life or performance, so as a rule of thumb, you should avoid them.

I had developer options set to one only and suspected that so I changed it back to the default setting. Still the same problem but only with the "browser" not with chrome. I have a Motorola Xoom wifi. Thanks for your reply.
