I was browsing through an XDA-Developers forum where someone said he had his battery drain issue drastically improved by switching to the KitKat radio firmware. He said he had experienced 3+ %/hour drain with the latest Lollipop radio but it was now less than 1%/hour idle after switching to the KitKat radio.

I didn't think I was experiencing a drastic battery drain but decided to give that method a try. Wow... he may be right. I don't have the hard numbers yet, but it sure looks like my battery is lasting much longer now. For those of you who are having a bad battery life using Lollipop, this may be worth a try.

Any link as to how to do this or to the XDA forum? I searched there but didn't find it.

The discussion started here.

The radio files for the Nexus 5 can be found here.

I have the firmware file that came with the KitKat factory image, so I just flashed it using the fastboot command as follows:

Code:
fastboot flash radio radio-hammerhead-m8974a-2.0.50.1.16.img
