I have recently got a Nexus 7 I am very new to android. Over the last couple
of weeks I have been getting a message pop up from mtmoney android
which then takes me to WhatsApp.dovelane asking me to upgrade.

It happens when I am reading newspapers online, most annoying.

I cannot understand why it says my WhatsApp is old, upgrade, because
I don' t have WhatsApp installed. How do I get rid of these popups?

Welcome to the forums and Android!
It is probably just an ad pop up from a free app you got from Play. That is the downside to getting the free ones, you have to put up with the ads.

You could try running a scan with Lookout or MalwareBytes (both available in the Play store).

Did you buy it new or used? If it was bought used you may need to do a factory reset to clear off any old info and start fresh. This will delete everything on your tablet though, so make sure you're aware of that if you choose to go that route.

Bought it new. Think it's come about by a free app as mentioned
In a previous reply to yours to my problem.

I installed Malwarebytes but did not solve the problem. Did a factory
Reset and still had the same problem.

Installed an app called comodo and fingers crossed it seems to have
solved the problem.
