Gmail will not work on Samsung Galaxy 5S Please HELP!

I crossed the border into Canada and when I came back my Google mail account would not work on my Samsung Galaxy 5S. I changed the password and fixed the issue on my PC but I cannot fix the issue on my phone...any suggestions?

Remove the account in the phone (Settings/General/Accounts). Create a new Google account on the phone for an existing Google account. Enter the same gmail address and password.
