Can I get some help connecting to wifi?

i am using moto g 2, recently updated to lollipop 5.0.2 my wifi is connecting but no browsing can be done. I contacted the moto support, they said there is a special setting in the phone for wifi. that is I have to go in advance settings and need to select frequency or channel there,but I could find any such option in the phone. Due to this i am not able connect to wifi please advice

Settings, Wifi, 3-dot menu, Advanced, should take you to the relevant options. If you don't have them, I don't know what to suggest.
