Galaxy S4 Kids Mode doesn't suppress Hangouts notifications?

S4, latest OTA update, running Kids Mode doesn't seem to suppress all notifications. Incoming text messages get suppressed just fine, for example, but if you receive a message through Google Hangouts the message popup with the message contents still show up. For various reasons, manually turning off Hangouts notifications every time Kids Mode is entered isn't practical. Is there a solution where Hangouts popups can be suppressed while in Kids Mode without disabling and enabling them manually?
