How to get Note5 screen to shut off automatically?

The screen on my Note5 won't shut off automatically, even though I have it set to shut off after 30 seconds; does anyone know how to fix this? Every time I get a notification, the screen turns on and stays on, which drains my battery. I've restarted it multiple times, and while that will fix the problem for a little while, within a few hours it starts doing it again.

Try entering recovery and doing a wipe of the Cache Partition, you won't lose any data. You can google, "how to enter recovery mode on (your phone)? Should be tip in first entry or so.
