transfering contacts to new samsung phone

[AC Question]

I smashed my screen on my Samsung s4 mini and screen no longer works. It was locked so cannot get access to it via laptop. However I did back up my phone 2 months ago on my laptop on kies. Now bought a samsung A3. I plugged it into laptop to transfer my previously backed up data onto it but it says that I need to use smartswitch and the new phone isn't recognised on kies. How can I transfer the data on kies to my new one that uses smartswitch?

Your contacts must be safely synced on your google account, try activating the new phone and link it with the account used in the S4 mini.

Photos stored on the device could be a problem if they aren't saved on a SD card or synced with Google photos.

For future cases I suggest to use Google standard cloud services to backup data on your phone.
