unnecessary ring notifications

how can i stop my phone from making a ringing sound or notification sound when there are no notification on my phone? Samsung Galaxy S5

Welcome to the forums! Is this a notification that happens at regular intervals? You may have your notifications reminder on. Have a look in settings - - accessibility - - notifications reminder. If that's not the case, come back and tell us more so we can troubleshoot your issues....

Welcome to Android Central! Does the tone sound like your usual default tone, or is it something different? It could be an NFC notification tone. If NFC is on, and there is something else with an NFC chip right next to the phone (like a credit card in a wallet-style phone case), that could trigger an NFC notification.
