No alert for hangout app given

When I receive a text from hangout it is not alerting me of texts arrival thus just suddenly stopped and friends are having same problem

Open Hangouts, go to settings, then select your account. Under "Notifications" make sure they're not disabled.

Open your phone's settings, navigate to "notifications" and make sure Hangouts is not disabled/disallowed.

Beyond that, it could be a bug with the latest Hangouts push.
