Can I get some help with Hangouts?

Help with Hangouts

Hello,
I just got Google Hangouts, but I'm not sure how to text people. I hit the plus button in the bottom corner, but it dosen't show any of my contacts from my phone. When I click on the little help icon is show my contacts in my phone, but only lets me call them. How can I text this people, also does Hangout's compress video and pics? Thank you.

Hangouts has to be enabled as your SMS app. You can do this in the settings menu in Hangouts. Click the 3 lines at the upper left>settings>SMS>the option at the top will enable Hangouts as SMS.

Once there, you should be able to add your contacts to your list of conversations.

As for compression, of pictures...I do not know.

Thanks for the help, but I just found out that IOS users can not text via Hangouts.

Now I just read something else saying that Iphone users can, so IDK.

Hangouts works fine for me on iOS. On WP, alas not.

Apple won't let a 3rd-party app take over a feature such as texting. You can use it to communicate with people, you just need to be sure your Google account is added appropriately to the phone. Unfortunately, I won't be any help in that area.
