Re: How's everyone's battery life so far?

Hello Mandi,
Use power saving mode option in settings and Auto screen adjustment option.
These will provide long battery life and gives long stand by for u r phone,
Good luck.

Quick question - do you find having to use Power Saving Mode acceptable? I think its a load of crap that some people need to use it due to a software glitch.

My battery has been awesome compared to the S4. I'm up at 4am for work. Had about 90% this morning. Now 8:30pm (aus) and still have 55%. With moderate use and no power saving.Browsing, some youtube and facebook.

I just now installed GSAM Battery Monitor, so don't have anything to show with that.

However, I took my phone off charge at 0500 AM Monday morning heading out to work.

Yesterday evening at about this time, Tuesday ~ 1800 hours, it still had 68%.

Today, at 1800 hours again, it is showing 46% and this is the 3rd day of use.
I normally have 3 to 5 phone calls between employees, and use the GPS and a location app to report road hazards on my job with the county road maintenance crew.... other than that, it is off.

I turn off DATA, SYNC, WIFI, GPS, BLUETOOTH when I don't need them.
I use Battery Doctor to perform the above functions.

I really enjoy this smartphone. When I need the smarts it can provide, it is all there in a heart beat.

I also Turned OFF Amazon Suites and all of the nefarious bloatware junk. If it is not necessary to make the phone perform its' intended task, I turned it all OFF. Bravo to Samsung for giving us that option.

I am quite happy with my S5 of late..... took about 3 weeks for me to learn how to make it perform "my way"...

Last update before new charge:

I keep DATA, SYNC, WIFI, GPS, BLUETOOTH turned off when I am not using the phone.

last charge was Monday morning at 0500.
Tuesday evening at 1900 battery was 68%
Wednesday evening at 1800 battery 48%
Thursday afternoon at 1330 battery is 20% and obviously would go well past midnight.

end of this test cycle.

At full charge, I get nearly 2 days, far cry form the 2-3 times/day I would have to charge my iPhone. Had WP and got a day, love this phone.

Bluetooth drained my battery down to 10% yesterday. It never happened before either with this phone or galaxy nexus. What is going on with my phone?

An easy day and a half. Having good service definitely helps. I am off wifi a large portion of the day.

It's decent. It just varies on how much you use it obviously and your settings. I am considering buying the second battery samsung offers for galaxy s5 complete with a charging case for separate battery

All I have to say is that I am thoroughly impressed with the battery life on this device. Actually, that would be an understatement. I have only owned the phone for two days but after seeing such stupendous results in the battery life department, I have no worries for the future. I have only ever been able to reach this screen on time with a Galaxy Note 2.
My stats throughout the day: unplugged at 4:10 AM. I primarily use my smartphone to browse the web, listen to music, and text. Other than that it's usually Flipboard, loads of pictures taken with the camera, light calling, HEAVY YouTube videos streaming, and some other miscellaneous apps (in my case SoundCloud, Voxer, Drive, Blogger). I have 1 Google account synced to my phone, it has everything set to sync except Blogger and Picassa photos (I just use the default Photos app via G+ to view all my Auto Backup photos). Other accounts are Last.fm, Soundcloud, Shazam, and Yahoo (Flickr app). Vibration, or haptic feedback, is set to OFF for every setting. The only ?motion? gesture I use on the phone is air-view; everything else like palm swipe screencapture or smart alert is turned off. Location mode is set to power saving, Google location is set to on, Google location history is set to on. Wifi is used ~%80 of the time, otherwise LTE via T-Mobile. Brightness is set to %0 - %10 when indoors (I can see it just fine). Otherwise it is set to %50 outdoors. I never use auto-brightness. Today I was only outdoors for about 2 hours; did some picture taking, texting, music (cached via WiFi through google play music) and light Chrome browsing outdoors on LTE. Oh, and if it matters, I'm using the fingerprint scanner to unlock the phone...
