Ok.. Problems with AT&T, and updates. History lesson here.
Note 9, SM-N960, AT&T Sim card and working off AT&T Network.
In February, I got the OTA update to 2.0, DTA4 with a security date of January 1.
In April, I was still on DTA4 with no update in sight. I checked with AT&T on their website and found that according to them, the latest update was DTB1, released on Feb 24, with a security patch of February 1.
I start running all the standard update troubleshooting. Cleared the Cache, rebooted, start in Safe mode and run, checked with Smart Switch who says that I am up to date (even with me running DTA4) I read online that people with AT&T are updating in droves to DTB1. I contact AT&T only to find that their trouble shooting is useless and assumes that once you run their stuff, everything is perfect. NOT! I even took the big step and did a factory reset and reload. No changes.
So I gave up for a while. Then dropped my phone and cracked the screen. Took it to a UbreakIfix and had them replace the screen. The tech also ran a full diagnostic on my phone and proclaimed it perfect. I asked him about the OS and he said that they could run a full update if I needed to. Since mine was still rebuilding again, I decided to wait and see what happened. Nothing happened. Went back a week later and they flashed my phone to DTB1.
So here we are in May, and my phone is still running DTB1, even though AT&T’s site says that the latest for the Note 9 was released on April 22, designated as DTC7, security date of April 1.
Back to AT&T’s site and run an online diagnostic on the update. According to them, their diagnostic can’t tell WHAT version I have on my phone. And they are totally no good.
So I guess what I gotta do as long as I have my note 9 is to go to UbreakIfix every couple of months and have them reflash my phone again and instead of a quick and simple update, I will have to go through a total factory reset every time. I don’t mind the rebuild if I am doing a LARGE update to a new OS (Hoping that the Note 9 gets 2.1 and maybe will fix this)
Any ideas how to fix this? I love my phone, but I hate having to do a total reset every time.
