software update - bad instructions?

I checked the online manual and under 'update and reset' it says the following:

Checking for phone system software updates manually
Press HOME > MENU, then tap Settings.
Scroll down the screen, and then tap About phone > System software updates.
On the System software update screen, tap Check now.

Unfortunately I don't have the 'System software updates' to select. My 'About phone' lists the following:

Network
Phone identity
Battery
Hardware information
Software information
Legal information

Naturally I select 'Software information' and the following is listed:

Firmware version (2.1-update1)
Baseband version
Kernel version
Build number
Software number
Browser version

Nothing is clickable on this screen. Any ideas?

I'm trying to download the update mentioned in the following article:

Also if anyone can direct me to which app they are referring to in the marketplace, I'd appreciate it.
