Anyone else preordered the unlocked model from HTC website? I ordered the carbon grey unlocked version and according to Jason Mackenzie of HTC these will supposedly ship on Nov 6th.

Anyone else excited about this phone? For me I'm mostly planning to use as back up for my 6P, was thinking about 5X as backup but this really caught my eye because of the metal build, good audio and updates within 15 days from Nexus. Sense looks nice and will give some alternative to stock android and at the same time not diverting too far from stock.

Pre-ordered the dark garnet. Although from the hands on videos I've seen it doesn't seem as dark as it looks on the press photos.

I just pre-ordered the charcoal grey unlocked myself. Very excited to get this. Anticipating the software update to allow its use on Verizon. [Edit: Cancelled my order. Sticking with my Moto X Classic.]

Ordered the Garnet red unlocked. Will be selling my xperia z3 compact, Asus Zenfone 2, and Lumia 1020. Ah, who am I kidding? I'll never sell the 1020. And the zf2 isn't worth anything...

I am liking this phone and strongly considering it. I went to the pre-order section and I am unsure which to chose, unlocked or T-Mobile. I am on T-Mobile and don't plan on leaving it anytime soon. What are the pro's and con's to these choices? I also would like to get a phone that utilizes band 12 as well, does one or the other prevent this? Any insight would be appreciated.

Unlocked model uses band 12 so you are fine. I would always choose unbranded/unlocked because I like faster updates in this case 15 days within Nexus phones. If you buy T-Mobile or carrier phones then good luck with updates :)

I see...so what advantage would there be to getting the carrier versions? The price would be the same right?

*Edit - Sorry for the double post, I thought I was editing not making a new one.

Some people are stuck in carrier plans like jump, next and edge so for those people, some don't care about branding and like buying from local store etc. Either way I would avoid buying carrier versions if you can and have the option to go unlocked/unbranded.

Pre-ordered the Opal Silver. Pumped to have a 5" screen with a high quality body and it sounds like the camera is solid.

It's funny. I probably would have returned my Z5 Compact in favour of this if HTC hadn't skimped so severely on the battery and even more importantly, if they hadn't priced themselves out of the U.K./European market.

You all got a bum deal on the UK pricing. Is it cheaper to just buy from the US?

Regarding battery...look on xda. A tester with a preproduction version say battery is better than expected.

Just preordered one in Black. With a 30 day return policy I feel like this will give me enough time to decide if it can replace my S6 Edge+ or if I should use the 6P that's on order instead. After returning the Z5 compact, I have lowered expectations about any "smaller" phone but the YouTube videos seem encouraging.

Probably! But the lack of European LTE band support in the US version kind of makes that a moot point unfortunately.

Out of curiosity, I have to ask; what prompted you to return your Z5C?
