So yesterday Android 4.4 Kitkat was released. I'm running a custom Stock Android ROM (by TWRP) and installing the 4.4 update from Google bricked my device. I boot it up and when it gets to the Google logo, the screen goes blue and pixelated. All of the tutorials on Youtube talk about how to Unroot/Unbrick your HTC One. I'd really like to stay in Stock Android since Sense sucks but honestly at this point I just want my phone back.

Following this tutorial (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0G0hKY4P9Y), I get to the second step and get this:

C:\fastboot>fastboot getvar version-main
< waiting for device >
and it just stays there

So I follow this tutorial (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1g5gEf2wgS4) and get to the first command prompt step and get the same thing:

C:\fastboot>fastboot oem lock
< waiting for device >
and it just stays there

Can someone please help me out? I really just want my phone back.

It seems your phone is not being found in fastboot mode. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the HTC drivers on your PC. Also what version of windows are you using. I know windows 8.1 doesn't like fastboot mode. It also may be that you aren't using the correct usb port. Fastboot doesn't like USB 3.0 Ports so check to see if you are using a USB 2.0 Port.

My laptop is running Windows 8.0 and only has USB 3.0 ports. My desktop, on which I did the original root, has both USB 2.0s and 3.0s and is running Windows 8.1. If uninstalling and reinstalling HTC drivers doesn't work then I guess I'm pretty much screwed.

...sorry about the double post: didn't see the first reply.

Try it on a USB 2.0 port.

I'm using the USB 2.0 ports on the front of my desktop and am still not getting anywhere. Same results as last time.

I'm also having difficulty locating/installing the HTC drivers. I tried this method

...but my computer didn't even detect my phone. Something's really screwed up here.

Thankfully, I have a Nokia Lumia 520 as a backup device. It takes and makes phone calls, texts, email, etc but really I want my HTC One back >_<
