Home screen vs app/video etc. colors.

Does anyone else notice that the home screen always looks washed out but yet, apps, videos, pics, etc. all look fine? In fact the skin tones etc. in vids and pics are much more realistic than most phones.
I mean, I know this isn't an amoled and has a reputation for being less vibrant than other phones. But I just notice the home screen and icons always look much more washed out than actual content on the phone which looks great. Just me?

It is because of the material design theme in my opinion. and yes this phone does have a very natural reproduction of colors i would say among the top performers in the high end phone market in that prospect.

I'm not using the "material design". I use nova launcher and icon packs. But I noticed this on kitkat, lollipop with or without using the nova launcher, and regardless of wallpaper. The home screens just seem more washed out than actual media does on the phone. Not a big deal, just some thing I am noticing.
