L may fix KitKat SD Card Debacle

Appologies. Forgot about knox. But then again there are methods other than Odin. I have successfuly rooted Grand2, and fully restored due to company policy. Wiping and flashing stock is enough to fool corporate apps. But knox is different :( "Following instructions to the letter" is self...

L may fix KitKat SD Card Debacle

Linux style makes no difference. In both cases an app can do what it wishes if a user gives it a permission. I suspect this was a patch up scheme after thousands of Ukrainians downloaded a shadowy app (Outside of play store). The app encrypted their data and asked for ransom. "Hah doesn't...

L may fix KitKat SD Card Debacle

I dont know why people keep saying "Apps can now write only to their specefic folders". It is true for SD cards. App data resides in Android/data But apps still write freely into the internal memory. A large amount of junk folders are left behind in the internal memory when an app is deleted...

Is this the end of the Flashing era?

Well, The OEMs will definetly use the lockdown. It was what they were demanding from day one. People no longer bought their overpriced phones, but flashed the latest ROMs in ancient devices. Now this. This is a jackpot for OEMs.

Is this the end of the Flashing era?

Aaha.. What did I say. What did I say? With every Iteration google is inching closer to its master plan. Kitkat broke SD cards in the name of "security" when anyone with common sense knew it was something more than that! Next came google's rumoured request to take over Cyanogen, whose ROMs...

    I'm a Frustated developer!!

I figured they would force us to post an Ad supported app and the revenue would go to google. (Since all the free apps I used had ads) 'Non official stores' such as? Kindly giv me names of a popular few :)

    I'm a Frustated developer!!

So I spent days and nights working on this one app. Tested it out. Dreamed about posting it on Playstore for free & getting a few downloads. Then I realize to be posted on playstore, one must pay google 25$ !! Even though I have no intention of making money from my app. I am clueless why...

    Is towelroot dangerous?

I would like to root my phone to get back my SDcard privileges. But I read it uses a recently discovered flaw in the linux kernel to root. Should I be concerned about very serious risks. What will happen when the linux guys patch up with an update. Will it later ruin my phone?

List of apps that can write to SD card in KitKat?

No. Apps can only write to their folden in /SDCard/Android/data/ Presently I know of no text editor that does it. But developers have started coding. Why bother about small text files? I would be concerned with movie files

Does stock android have file manager

I have an LG phone, it has a filemanager. From kitkat onwards only the built in filemanager can modify and move in SDcard. However I created a AndroidVirtualDevice (AVD) in eclipse. It is supposedly a stock kitkat. I fould no file manager app! So stock kitkat has no filemanager? Is it an addon...
