Why can't I change my phone ringer tone- Moto G?

[AC Question]

Can't change phone ringer tone- Moto G

Moto G Android 4.4.4
There is no way (2 days Googling) to change the ringer tone. I tried downloading an APP to change a contacts tone and/or group and still I'm stuck.
I'm sure somebody has a solution.

Welcome to the forums. Have you tried either settings>sound, or Phone>menu>settings?

If you're trying to change the tone for an specific contact our group you could try this. Open your contacts app, tap on the contact icon, tap on the pencil top right and then open the overflow menu (three dots top right). The option to change the tone should be there.

Tried it also--does not work. I'm stuck with one tone.

Are you using the stock dialer or a different one?

I'm using True Dialer which is not stock. Even so, I went through the stock app and changed the ringtone and it doesn't apply. All I get is a standard tone which seems to be stuck.
