I am just asking if there is a history of unlocked phones with motorola sucking with AT&T such as with radio signal connection?

I heard MKBHD say that his note 4 international sucked on AT&T network, but that the AT&T note 4 works much better for network connection thus increasing battery life.

what are your thoughts if I plan to stay on AT&T for the next two years anyways?

Unlocked or AT&T version?

If money isn't an issue then get the Pure Edition. Every time IMO. Then its yours and unlocked for pretty much the same price. No brainer at this point. :)

The AT&T bloatware is such a non issue. It accounts for .09% of the storage space on the phone and can all be disabled.

Reasons to not get the carrier branded phone:

1) Money is not an issue
2) Don't want the 2 year contract
3) Want faster android updates
4) Don't like the carrier branding on the phone
5) Need the unlocked phone because you are a world traveler

Beyond that it's basically no different. After the 2 year contract you can have the carrier phone unlocked just like the Pure Edition.

Does AT&T not need the the additional LTE bands that are in the AT&T version and not in the Pure edition? This is from Moto's site:

Moto X - Pure Edition (GSM Unlocked with T-Mobile SIM - XT1095):
GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
UMTS/HSPA+ (850, 900, 1700 (AWS), 1900, 2100 MHz)
4G LTE (02, 04, 17)

AT&T (XT1097):
GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
UMTS/HSPA+ (850, 900, 1700 (AWS), 1900, 2100 MHz)
4G LTE (02, 03, 04, 05, 07, 17)

Looks like the Pure edition is missing LTE bands 03, 05, and 07. Is that crucial?

My Pure Edition works just fine on AT&T.

No, bands 4 and 17 are the main ones that AT&T uses right now. The Pure Edition is fine to use on AT&T.

Thanks. Looks like I won't be able to resist much longer. My Verizon contract on my Galaxy Note 2 runs out this month after two years. It has been a good phone (running CyanogenMod), but I think it is time for a change (and a break from Verizon).

I got the AT&T version because I had an upgrade (work pays for the line). I hope we get Lollipop in a timely matter, but I'm not gonna lie, the only part of lollipop I want right now are the soft keys in the nav bar. If only I can change just that part without root (since you know...we CAN'T yet).

With that said, after comparing mine with some of my friends' Moto X Pure Editions, I have not personally seen a single performance difference.

Pure. None of that ATT bloat that made me turn in my lovely G3 and go for a OPO and finally with my Pure X. Which now has Official LP. Go with the Pure.

4G LTE (2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 17)

Is this a recent change or were the missing bands a typo?

Moto for whatever reason at launch did not enable certain bands on the Pure Edition.

Through a OTA update they enabled the missing bands bringing it in parity with the at&t version.

Cool! Thanks for pointing this out. It definitely was not a typo. Glad it covers all the bands now. My phone is on order with the cyber Monday coupon!

I would like to get this phone but the lack of band 5 on the pure edition has me holding off the purchase. It was reported at launch that band 5 and a couple others would be activated on the pure device with a software update. Can anyone confirm that their device work on band 5? I didn't know what band was in my area until I purchased a OPO which does not have band 5. I downloaded "LTE Discovery" app from play store and as it turns out I have quite a few towers in my area running 5.
