Auto brightness misbehaving?

So it's past sunset and I don't need the display to be too bright as it can be a bit blinding and causes unnecessary battery drain. So I turn the brightness slider down quite a way. About 10-30 seconds later, it jumps back up to where it was before. It doesn't want to stay low, it insists on being brighter than needed. Don't have this issue with my work phone, the S6 edge running Marshmallow.

Anyone else notice odd auto brightness behaviour in low light? It was fine during the day.

In the past, if you touched the brightness slider somewhere it would disable to auto brightness. Not the case anymore, you literally have to "uncheck" the auto brightness. That's why it reverted, because you didn't uncheck it.
