8.1 Final (Stable) now available for Pixel and Pixel XL!!!

Got the OTA on my Fi Pixel XL this afternoon. My VZW Pixel is still waiting for the update.

    New update

I've been in a DM discussion with motorolaUS regarding the lack of Android security updates for the G5 plus. I think more owners need to put more pressure on them. Considering some of the major security issues that have recently been patched, it is ridiculous that the device is 8 months out of...

BGR Article, T-Mobile customers: Don't buy a Galaxy Note 8

Good to see other perspectives. I guess the primary source of disappointment was the statement Neville Ray made earlier this year, and the Note 8 seemed to be the logical Samsung device. http://www.droid-life.com/2017/07/18/t-mobile-600mhz-phones-lg-samsung/

BGR Article, T-Mobile customers: Don't buy a Galaxy Note 8

I'm sure this has been talked about in other threads, but I would hate to see someone miss the detail that the Note 8 will not support the 600 MHz band on T-Mobile. Support for this band has to be a must have for any T-Mobile user that is considering a new device. T-Mobile customers: Don’t buy...

    Jan security update

I've got two devices running 7.0 with older security updates. I've been working with Project Fi support, and they have asked multiple times about whether my devices are in the beta. I've tried to tell them that the Beta program doesn't support the Nexus 6 anymore (and thus the question is...

About Nexus 6 lack of new ota

I've got two Nexus 6 devices. Both are on Project Fi, one with 7.0 Oct SEC and the second has 7.0 Nov SEC. I have been working with support, and they claim the update should happen at any time. I am convinced that they think it is a device specific issue, where it is actually a Google/carrier...

Which Pixel or Pixel XL did you buy or want to buy?

I would have purchased a Really Blue 128 GB XL if they had offered it. Since it wasn't an option, I got my second favorite, a Black 128 GB XL.

    screen protector

I just received my Zagg InvisibleShield, and can confirm what others have been saying. The Zagg for the Pixel XL does not fully cover the usable portion of the screen. I submitted a case with Zagg and am hoping they will release an updated version of the product.

    screen protector

Another thread in the forums is stating that glass screen protectors are intentionally small due to the curved screen. Several versions out there are too large and leave a lip around the outside edge.

Pixel Owners vs Pixel XL Owners

I am coming from a Nexus 6, and thus figured that the XL would be an easy transition. I also carry a work iPhone 6s, and wanted the personal device to have the larger screen as a contrast. Definitely happy with the XL, but it isn't enough of an improvement from my Nexus 6 to justify the...

    screen protector

How do you already have a Zagg screen protector? I ordered mine the day they had it available on the website and they still aren't shipping them yet.

[UPDATE] Wifi Assistant Disabled by Verizon

Re: Wifi Assistant Disabled by Verizon So it sounds as if your device is fine, but a Verizon purchased device won't use WiFi Assistant even if it is used on Project Fi. Glad I didn't buy mine from Verizon.

Google Pixel XL - Preorder /order/shipping thread

I ordered my Pixel XL (128 GB, Quite Black) on 10/4 at 2:00 PM EDT from Project Fi. It had been showing a 10/26-10/28 arrival date until today, when I received a tracking number. Should be here tomorrow!

128GB is currently in stock on Google's site

I received an email. I'd already ordered mine on launch day from Project Fi after having added myself to wait list on the Play Store site.

Verizon Version info from Google Rep...

I would disagree, I have had far more issues with signal on T-Mobile than Sprint in the Midwest. This is based on supporting a user base with BYOD devices that generate support calls when mobile apps don't work. I personally carried Sprint and T-Mobile devices during a couple year period...

Will Unlocked Pixels Support HD Voice and WiFi Calling on Verizon?

I am more concerned about the direct from Google OS updates, but am hoping that they can get the other two things working. Hopefully Google will add some pressure for Verizon to support those features on the unlocked devices.

    Free Daydream with Pixel Purchase

Nice. I just received one too.

(Poll) If you could change ONLY 1 thing about the Pixel, what is it?

Water proof rating has to be #1 for me. Having a removable battery would be a close second.

32 GB or 128 GB? Get Device Protection or no?

I went with 128 due to the lack of a SD card slot. Ordered my device from Project Fi and opted for their $5 a month damage coverage. It's not that much more than the Play Store damage coverage at the end of 2 years, and allows me to keep coverage if I decide to go into years 3 or 4.

Will updates be just as quick on Verizon?

I'm in the same boat, but I have the advantage of carrying a work Verizon line (I own the device and it is reimbursed) and a personal Project Fi device. I wasn't willing to risk it and went with Project Fi for the upgrade. My hope is that the Google Pixel devices bypass the carriers for update...
