(e5823) anyone know why my z5 compact isn't recognizing the SIM card?

I've inserted the SIM with the sim tray right side up and upside down.. Phone detects neither

The basic possibilities is the phone is bad or the SIM card is bad. Try a different SIM card and try your SIM card in a different phone. Replace whichever one is bad. I'm not aware of any setting you can change for this. You could also factory reset the phone, though I would suspect your phone is new so it likely has little chance of helping resolve the problem. It's a relatively simple and free thing to try though.

This happened on mine but it recognized it after a reboot.
