Random txt message issues

I have my Nexus S 4G number set up with Google Voice. Lately it has been very picky about which text messages it will receive or will not. Google Voice has record of the texts. Some but not all of the messages will not be shown in the stock android message app. I used to use Handcent but the issue seemed even worse when using that app. This has affected incoming and outgoing messages both for sms and mms.
My question is: do you think it is an issue with my phone, Google Voice integration, or a combination? Thanks in advance for any help!

Hard to say.. try clearing cache and data for voice and re login and integrate it again.
could fix it.

I was having problems with some sms and practically none of my mms would work. Went into a Sprint store and they said it's not problem with the stock messaging app. They told me to use GoSms and it works perfect now.
