So I went to t-mobile and looked at the coverage map, my area is in the 3rd tier of data service. They called it mobile web. What kind of speed can I expect to see. Sprint I see .8mb of 3G.

Isnt mobile web mean hspa+ coverage? If so you should be in good shape.

BUT, if i was you id get the MT4G or the G2, i couldnt pass up the SD CARD and HSPA+ that was left out of the nexus s. I'm still hurt over that ... :'(

Mobile web is EDGE, Fast mobile web is 3G, and Very fast is HSPA+

Since you're with Sprint, think of it as the same speed more or less that you get for data while you're roaming.

I have no idea what edge is, what are we talking in speed here? So it wouldn't be worth it to switch for that. On sprints 3G I run around 1mb.

EDGE max DL speed is 592 kbps. I average about 200 down/ 75 up with T-Mo. That's fine for checking mail and social networks, browsing mobile websites or Gtalk. Once you want to do more than that, it really, really, REALLY sucks lol

Regarding your Tmobile data speed questions, in respect to the Nexus S, you should know that the Nexus S does not support HSPA+, aka Tmobile's "4G" speed (basically means d/ls are capped at 14.4 Mbps - speeds which you could theoretically reach if you had a "4G" capable phone). The Nexus S does not do this. It's max speed will be 7.2 Mbps.

This is an arguably unfortunate decision of Google/Sammy, though not surprising considering I feel they rushed the Nexus S out so that Gingerbread could launch with a "flagship" device.
